Youth Activities Operated in the Premises

The primary reason for the existence of the AYA is to provide an environment for youth activities. This is currently met by owning and maintaining the Old Chapel.

The Youth Club, managed by County Youth Service staff caters for young people in school years 9 upward (age 13+). The Club is open at 6.30 pm and close at 9.00 pm on Thursday evenings and every other Monday evening. Drop in during these times to see what’s going on. Consideration is being given to restarting a Wednesday evening session, possibly for people in a slightly younger age group. However, we would probably have to do this by self-help guided and assisted by the Hampshire County Youth Service.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme also uses the building on Tuesday Evenings between 7.00 pm and 9.30 pm.

Activities under the Governance of the AYA

The very successful Alresford After School Club provides child care facilities every weekday in term time. The staff collect children after school from Sun Hill Infants and Junior Schools, give them a hearty snack, then they have numerous things to do such as playstation, craft, games, toys and painting. We also take the children to activities within the local area, tennis, cricket, football, Brownies and Gym Monkeys. Parents collect children from the club at 6.00pm.

The same staff that run the After School Club also run the Alresford Breakfast Club that operates in the Infant school from 7.45 am to 8.45 am every school day.

If you are interested in a place for your child at the After School Club or the Breakfast Club, Call Angie Bunce on 01962 771709.

Other Activities using the Old Chapel

Alresford Childminders group meets with the children on a fortnightly basis.

Weekly French language and bridge classes are run in the building by Perins School from where you can obtain details of enrolment.
